October 2025 – Outdoor Bowls Update

The 2025/26 Outdoor bowls season kicked off with our annual Bus trip to the Coalgate Bowling Club on Sunday the 21st of September.
With very high winds forecast everyone was thinking “What if”.
A slight drizzle and not much wind on arrival at Coalgate did not appear to be a problem.
A hot cuppa and a snack followed and before long teams were out on the green ready for the next challenge.
Trying to get your bowl close to the kitty was not easy as the wind started to pick up and as the day went on it got stronger. Sheer determination helped get everyone through the first game. Back in the comforts of the club house everyone enjoyed a great lunch and some refreshments.
Outside the wind was now very strong which gave most bowlers an excuse to extend the lunchtime activities.
The wind did begin to ease, and sunshine took over, so the last game was played in almost summer conditions.
A happy hour followed, and the team photo was taken before we boarded our lovely big bus back to the Hornby Club.
A big thank you to the Coalgate Bowling Club and to our members who participated for making the day so successful.
Our next game is at Bowls Hornby on Sunday the 19th of October 12 noon for registration.
