Welcome members to another busy month. Canterbury triples played at the CIBA end of August. It was won by Mike King, Dave Bullock and Ann Graham from Richmond. Congratulations.
The Club drawn Mixed Pairs winners were Chris Matthews and Rose Johnson, second was Tony Anderson and Lillian Franks. Well done.
Our Hornby Seven’s team had a great comeback over two weeks and won the Super 7’s event played at the CIBA over a few months. Awesome achievement from all the players that participated.
Recently the annual match between Ellesmere and Hornby for the Owen Bright Trophy was held. Congratulations Hornby on retaining the trophy. The final result was 32-16 which doesn’t reflect the actual games. All played in good spirit, hard matches but overall, it was enjoyed by all who participated.
Four of our members were selected for the Canterbury Interprovincial Team of eight, plus a reserve, who travelled to Wellington and played From Friday 13th to Sunday 15th September in Division 3.
Congratulations to Dave Bullock, Darryl Gallagher, Mike King and Justin Thompson who helped the Canterbury team reach 2nd in their provision which means a promotion up to Division 2 next season. Great bowling and a fantastic team effort.
Dave Bullock overall was placed in the top six players out of 48 in their division. Congratulations Dave – top effort and consistent.
The Club open pairs, played recently, was won by Graham and Lillian Franks, second was Darryl Gallagher and Claire Stevenson.
The Canterbury Chartered Club Fours were held Sunday 22nd September at Ashburton. Congratulations to Chris and Donna Matthews, Justin Thompson and Darryl Gallagher for winning against the Richmond team in the final. The win enabled Justin to receive his gold star for five Chartered Club titles – an awesome achievement Justin.
Our season is rapidly ending.
