October 2023 – Table Tennis Update

Canterbury Clubs Table Tennis interclub competition has finished for the year and Hornby did well, winning the A, C and D grades.
The A/R grade was a tie with (the final result to be determined) with the Richmond Club and they won the B grade.
As I said in the last newsletter, our Club Grade Champs were in full swing, and the results have shown up a few surprises. Grade winners are yet to be confirmed but will be named in the next newsletter.
Finally, our big event for the year was the South Island Clubs NZ Table Tennis Competition, held in Oamaru on the 15 and 16 of September. Of the 28 teams that entered this year, we made up six, one each in the A, A/R, C, D grades and two in the B grade. Winners and Runners-up were evenly spread with Hornby winning the D Grade and coming runners-up in the A/R grade.
The A/R team was Glenn Ross, Watson Ou and Darren Caldwell.
Future happenings this month include a visit from North Canterbury Table Tennis, Canterbury Clubs AGM and cup presentation and our annual 10-pin bowls evening.
