October 2023 Indoor Bowls Update

Welcome members,
Daylight saving has now commenced with longer evenings and hopefully warmer days to look forward to.
Our season is quickly ending over the summer months.
Our final Club event, the Open Fours, was won by Bevan Matthews, Graham and Lillian Franks and Alister Graham. Congratulations.
Thursday 14 September a lot of our members travelled out to Lincoln to play Ellesmere for the rescheduled Owen Bright Trophy rep game that was to be played in June.
With a lack of members unavailable from Hornby, a few players were brought in from some other clubs. Thank you to those players that helped us out.
Hornby had a good win overall and retained the trophy. A great evening was enjoyed by all, with lots of laughter, banter, good bowls and a great supper afterwards.
The Canterbury Champion of Champion triples was won by Mike King, Katie-Rae Boticia and Donna Matthews. Congratulations.
The Canterbury Chartered Club Fours held recently at The Richmond Club had five Hornby Teams entered out of only 11 entries. Great effort Hornby Club.
Runners-up were Mike King, Dave Bullock, Jenny Hamilton and Bev Diamond -losing on an extra end to a Papanui team. Well done.
