March 2025 – Travel Update

Saturday 1 Mar, 2025

Hello to everyone

Hard to believe that we are now officially out of summer and into Autumn. Especially as our summer up to the last two weeks has just about been non-existent. Those horrible north easterlies certainly know how to ruin a good day.

On Sunday 23rd February, 34 travel members ventured out to Peel Forest for a winner of a day.

We struck heavy rain on the journey down, which left us wondering what we would experience. The rain soon came to an end and the weather became the best you could wish for, not too much sun and no further rain at all. Couldn’t have been better.

It was great to have the use of the hall, that we hired out, so much room and the facilities were great. The very large wood fired BBQ was perfect.

A big thanks goes to the guys who took control of the cooking: Moggy, Rob, John C. It was so good! The salads were incredibly tasty with a very large selection, and the meat was superb. I had no idea such a simple planned day would receive such a great result.

Apart from the lads who did such a great job with the cooking, the ladies also did extremely well.

A big thanks to Cheryl and Adele for setting up the salads and cleaning up, you ladies did a fabulous job. Also to Diane, a huge thanks to you for organising the meat and ice for us to collect early Sunday morning. We were all very relaxed for the day. Well done folks.

Also, quite a few went for a walk and were extra happy with what they saw and experienced.

On arrival we went straight to the Parasol Café where Paul had organised either a scone or sandwiches for us with coffee or tea of our choice

Our big trip is organised for seven days in April, and it is edging very close. All 43 members have paid the amount requested. All accounts have now been sorted for payment.

Our next meeting will be Monday 17th March at 7pm

Warm regards

Lyn Wright
