March 2024 – Billiards & Snooker Update

A belated update on happenings in the section.
As a section, we have had a tremendous year with many exceptional individual and team achievements.
Gary Olliver, our champion Billiards player, claimed his 20th, yes 20th, NZ Billiards Championship 2023 win. A superb result from a very dedicated player.
His partner, Corien Simpson, is now rated as the No 1 Women’s Snooker Player in New Zealand and has been selected as part of the team to represent New Zealand in the Trans-Tasman Snooker test against Australia.
Rob Redgrove won the New Zealand Open Snooker Championship 2023, a tournament recognised by the world body WPBSA (October). A superb effort from Rob amid very stiff competition.
Our Premier Snooker Team won the premier grade against CBSA (November). The team was Rob Redgrove, Brent Jones, Bill Earle with Subs Gary Olliver and Ian Muir.
Congratulations to them all.
A reminder to all club members we have a club night from 7pm every Monday night.
We welcome any new players. Just turn up before 7pm and make yourself known to Tom Ng, our Club Captain who will look after you. You are welcome as a casual player or for those more competitive to enter into interclub teams later in the year.
