February 2025 – Travel Update

Welcome back to everybody.
We hope you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year.
Travel section held their Christmas function on 7th December in the events room at the Club. We had 60 members attend. The band played from 7pm to 11pm, with seating sorted and supper brought to the table. This seemed to be a popular decision.
The supper was superb, many thanks to all the staff involved in making this happen. Special thanks to Greer and Tracey for their organising skills and carry-through, both were outstanding. Thank you.
Next events
On Sunday 23rd February, we are travelling to Peel Forest for a BBQ picnic. We have hired the hall along with the BBQ there. The notice for this trip is now on the notice board.
We will depart the Hornby Club at 8.30am. On arrival at Peel Forest, we will have morning tea at the Parasol Café, with a choice of scone or muffin with tea or coffee.
You can take your own alcohol or non-alcoholic drink. Please bring your own cutlery along with a drinking vessel. We will plan to leave to be back at the Club around 5.45pm.
Also, for the big trip organised for seven days in April, which has been in the planning stage since May 2024, this will include three nights in Auckland, with a visit to Waiheke and the train to Taumarunui for two nights, where we travel on rail carts to Whangamomona. On completion of the Republic trip, we will then catch the train on to Wellington and fly home from there on the seventh day.
Our next meeting will be Monday 17th February at 7pm.
