August 2024 – Snooker Update

Well, as I write this, the NZ Billiards and Snooker Singles has just finished being hosted at the club and what an event it was. Eight tables at Cuthberts Green, eight tables at Hornby Club, 16 Billiard players and 70 Snooker players. Incredibly, there were 14 entries from Hornby Club, all of whom represented the club honourably.

Gary Olliver (Hornby) was beaten in the Billiard final. Rob Redgrove (Hornby) was beaten in the Snooker Semifinal.

The Snooker final was contested by Ian Muir (Hornby) and Adam Lilley (Cashmere). Adam eventually won with a high break of 99 and 63, showing the high standard of play.

All helped to showcase the club in the best fashion possible.

A big thank you to all the club office staff who helped us in our endeavours. General Manager, Tim Mathews, who made many of our potential problems

go away.

To the Pool section… Thank you so much for the use of your room. Without you making your room available at short notice this would never have happened. Thank you to Graham Walker for his invaluable help in grooming the tables each evening and early morning for four days.

The Semifinals and final were shown live on YouTube and are still available to be viewed by those who missed it.

Interclub starts on Monday 29 July, Division 3 with Premier and Division One starting on Wednesday 7 August. Members need to be aware this can mean most tables are required for interclub Mondays.

Wednesdays and Club night Thursdays. As always new members Welcome. The tables were all recovered for the above event and are in premium order. Please take care and avoid Jump shots or Masse shots which could damage the cloth.

The latest cash raffle draw number 5 was won by Warren Farrelly. $40 cash.
