April 2025 – Darts Update

Hello again, and welcome to April! What an incredible month it has been for Hornby Darts! Packed with outstanding performances, well-deserved accolades, and plenty of reasons to celebrate. Let’s dive into the highlights!

South Islands Wrap-Up – Hornby Dominates!

The 2025 South Islands Darts Tournaments were a resounding success for our club, with Hornby players shining across every category. Here’s a quick recap of our standout achievements:

  • Youth: Tylar Whyte secured 3rd equal in a fiercely contested youth competition—great work, Tylar!
  • Mixed Pairs: Two Hornby pairs—Jordan Whyte & Sarah Pitama, and Lucas Edwards & Maata Rupene-Atkins—reached the last 4, while Lance Odgers & Ashlee Regnaud made it all the way to the final!
  • Ladies Events: Defending champions Maata Rupene-Atkins & Raewyn Edwards retained their Ladies Pairs title in a thrilling final against clubmates Sarah Pitama & Lee Brinsdon—what a match! In the Ladies Singles, Ashlee Regnaud (Last 8) and Lee Brinsdon (Last 4) showed their class.
  • Mens Events: Jordan Whyte stormed into the semi-finals of the Men’s Singles, with Lance Odgers & Kayden Milne reaching the last 8. Elliot Hitchings also impressed, making the final of the Men’s Singles Consolation.

Special Awards:

  • Raewyn Edwards – Women’s Most 180s (x2)
  • Kayden Milne – Men’s Highest Break (170)
  • Lee Brinsdon – Ladies Highest Finish (153)

A massive congratulations to our Hornby players selected to represent the South Island at the Nationals in Pukekohe this July! This is a huge honour, and we know you’ll do us proud!

Hornby Takes Home the Aggregate Trophy!

Our club’s consistent excellence across all events earned us the prestigious South Island Aggregate Trophy—proof that Hornby is a true darts powerhouse!

Tournament Personality Award – Andrea Coburn!

A special shoutout to Andrea Coburn, who was awarded the Tournament Personality Trophy for her infectious enthusiasm and sportsmanship. Well deserved, Andrea!

Cricket Darts Success!

Our players have been on fire in the CCCCDA Cricket competitions too:

  • Mar 12: Jordan Whyte & Tylar Whyte won the Cricket Pairs Championship, with Chris Jessett & Nate Kennett as runners-up!
  • Mar 19: The Hornby team of Jordan Whyte, Doug Bull, Lance Odgers & Elliot Hitchings claimed victory in the Cricket Fours, while another Hornby squad (Kelvin Head, Rob Foley, Chris Whyte & Tylar Whyte) finished as runners-up!

Winter League Starts April 2nd!

The 2025 Winter League is just around the corner, and we’re excited to have 8 teams registered across 4 grades! It’s shaping up to be another competitive season, so let’s get behind our teams and keep the Hornby spirit strong.
