Hi everyone, to all our Hornby Club Members and families.

Our Card Section is full on, every Thursday night with section card activities.

Firstly, to recap from last month. On 25th Feb, we had our ever popular ‘End of Month Pairs Night’, we had 58 players on the night. It was a fun, happy night, for all players, with a great atmosphere, as always. The winners on the night, on 20 pts, were Frank Martin & Tony Bakhos. Second on 18pts were Lesley Bulman & Gina Howden Winter. The photo is enclosed with others 3rd equal.

On Thursday 6th March, we had our ‘Accumulative Scoring Night’. We had 52 members playing. All scores of points per game, gets added to total running score making final total at end of night. The winners on the night were Paul Bulman on 89 pts, and joint 2nd on 85pts were James Kavenagh, and Ross Ranger.

On Thursday 13th March, we had our usual Progressive night. The winners move on and play with a different partner. We had 14 tables, 56 players, we had two winners. They were Sharon Smith and Trevor Tubman.

On Thursday 20th March, we had a six handed tournament amongst our members on our normal card night. We had 66 players and 11 tables. It was a full house down in the Glassworks Room. Everyone enjoyed the night. We played 10 games. The winners on the night were Diane Findley, Sharon Smith & Marleen Troon. There was a close finish of two other teams tied in 2nd place. We also had Maurice Adler getting a ‘ Perfect Hand “ of Hearts, receiving the weekly jackpotting money.

On Sunday 9th March, we had a team of eight play in the 37th South Island Stein lager Pairs Tournament held at Richmond Club. This was well organised, with 16 clubs participating.

On 27th March, we have our End of Month Pairs Night, which I will report on next month.

On 26th April, we start our Saturday Club Interclub Games, to be played over 15 weeks. If anyone would like to play either Cards or Crib in the team, please let Helen James or myself know. You must have our new Club Shirt to wear and be able to travel on the bus for ‘ away games.’

Just to finish off, we look forward to any new members, joining our Cards Euchre Section. We also have our Annual General Meeting on Thursday 17th April. Please come along and give us any feedback or maybe ideas for activities.
