April 2024- Snooker Update

A busy month for the Snooker Section with section competitions starting in earnest. Intermediate billiards was won by Paul Aitken and Warren Farrelly the runner up.
The Canterbury Open Billiard Champs 2024 was won by Gary Oliver after he beat another of our section members Rob Redgrove in the Semifinals. Congratulations to both of you.
Meanwhile, Corien Simpson, another section member and the number one ranked female player in NZ has played in the Women’s Australasian challenge. She won four frames and lost four frames in the test. In the NZ women’s champs, she won all eight of her section games. In the last 16 she was beaten 3-2. A top effort.
Breaking News!!!
From the 13 to 21 July this year, the Hornby Club will host the National Singles Champs for Billiards B grade and Billiards Open followed by the National
Snooker Open. The top NZ Cueists will be here for all to see. We will have five tables in the Snooker room and another three in the Pool room. We thank the Pool Section for graciously making space available over this time. This is a great opportunity to showcase our new club to the rest of New Zealand.
A correction from last month. Club nights are from 7.00pm on Thursday nights not Monday nights as mistakenly printed last month. All welcome. Casual or serious. Section membership only $15 per annum.
