June 2022 All Sports Update

Hi everyone,

On 12 May we hosted our first ‘All Sports Evening” for the year. This was The Les Griffith Trophy, who was a Past President of the Hornby Club. We had 11 teams of 10 players participating on the night, with six different game options. Those games were Darts, Mini Golf, Euchre Cards, Indoor Bowls, Quotes and Pool. There was a special achievement on the night for Andrew Parkes. When playing Mini Golf, for the Cricket Section, he got 27 perfect shots in the golf tray, (i.e., when you got one, you kept going till you miss), so 27 in a row, has to be impressive.

Everyone, by the atmosphere of night, had a good and fun night. The winning team overall was the Fishing Section on 19pts, Cricket Section close on 18 1/2 pts and then Pool on 14 1/2 points. Well done to all other contestants. Please spread the word that it is a fun night to be part of, and encourage others to play when required. The night is finished off, with supper, and refreshments were available during the evening.

On behalf of Moggy, he would like to thank those who came in earlier to help set everything out, mats, dart- foot markers etc, to the ladies selling all those raffles, Terry on the Score Board, and those that helped put everything away again at the end of the night.

So, we will do it all again, for our next All Sports Trophy, “The Dumbo Hampton ” which will be held on Friday 9 June. Please arrange your Section Teams.

For your information, the other two are on Sunday afternoon 6 August “Alan Cole” Euchre only Tournament and Friday 6 October will be the last All Sports Trophy, The “Dick Bain” Trophy.
