September 2021 Golf Update
Friday 3 Sep, 2021
Hello all!
When writing this we are in lockdown, Level 4. I sincerely hope we have moved down an alert level, hopefully to Level 2. However, this is something that we have no control over, but at least we have the chance to control our own destiny. Sanitise well, regardless of what level we are in.
Near the end of August, the golfers headed out to Ellesmere for our monthly Tournament. We had about 30 players front up. It was the second round of the Section’s Club Champs. In the Senior Grade Mike James had a gross 74, a good effort. Keith Burgess had a net 76. Other grade winners were Intermediate Pete Halliwell from Jack Kingi Hazel. Junior A David Benn led the field from Wayne Gruebner. The Junior B Winner was Bob Harrison from Pete Middlemiss. Bob’s effort was outstanding, seeing he had a major health scare only a few short months ago. Raylene Adler took out the Ladies Grade from Glenda Kingi Hazel. As usual we all had a great BBQ provided by Moggy, a good man who know how to impress the troops. To top that effort, Pat Evans provided us with some excellent baking to eat when we finished. Thank You Pat.
Next month we head away to Amberley for the Section’s next game. That game is on 12 September with a 10am start. There will be a van provided. Anyone interested in joining the Golfing group, just put your name up on the notice board at the club or just turn up on the day. Turning up half an hour before tee time would be appreciated. With Covid 19 controlling our lives, we do not hold our breath on playing due to the Covid Levels.
Be safe. Sanitise. Social distancing keeps us on top off the game. Until next time, when better news may await you.
Keep Safe,
The Big Fella
