October 2024 – Managers Report
Wednesday 2 Oct, 2024
Hi All.
And just like that we are in October with people discussing summer plans and what they will be doing in the long weekends before Christmas.
At the Club we are looking forward to a nice busy month on the big screen and in our Events Centre:
- NRL Grand Final this Sunday 6 Oct 8.30pm- Enjoy a Burger and Beer or Wings and Beer while watching here at the Club
- Bathurst 12 & 13 Oct 12pm, Top 10 shoot out on Saturday, Live Race coverage on Sunday
- The Everest Race 19 October – On the big screen for the $20m purse race at Randwick. TAB have chosen Hornby Club to be a Base Camp
- Bee Gees and Queen Tribute Saturday 5 October 7.00pm
- Sweet Azz on Saturday 12 October 7.00pm
- Neil Diamond Tribute Saturday 19 October
We start the month in school holidays and for the kids we are offering kids packs in the Café during the day. Don’t forget Hornby Club members kids eat free on Wednesday and Thursday in Chalmers Restaurants with dining adults, so try out the restaurant if you haven’t already.
We finish the month with Labour weekend, having Monday 28th off. As always there will be no surcharge on the public holiday Monday, so come on down and enjoy what your Club has to offer on your day off in the daylight savings sunny afternoon.
Members Corner
We are excited to be starting Bingo on 8 October and the first Tuesday of each month until next years free 10 weeks of Bingo kicks off at the end of June 2025. A familiar face will be doing the calling. Bingo will be 10 rounds and one super house round, prices will be $5 a card and $6 for the super house round. A $30 bundle will be available for a Book (5 cards) and one Super house.
Noting there will be no Bingo in January with so many of you out of town enjoying the Summer (hopefully its hot).
All Sports have their annual raffle tickets on sale now, so grab one from your section or they will be available at reception from 7 October. The All Sports night is on Friday the 11th with the Dick Bain Trophy up for grabs, so join your sections team/s and make a play for the trophy.
Our Members Draws of Chase the Ace on Thursdays and Crack the Cube on Friday continue to grow, so come on in for your chance at a good win. The Wednesday Draws are still a popular option for our members.
The Bledisloe Draw was won by Murray, who took his mate Robin to the game last weekend. He has photos and a write up for you all that will come out in the mid-month mail out. The Bledisloe Box was a great success, so thank you to the team from the Board and staff that organized the nights.
Food & Beverage
We have made a couple of small updates to the Legends menu. It’s hard to change something that sells so well. Check out our new Lamb & Feta pizza, Morroccan Salad and Crumbed Prawns. We have kept our specials the same for the month as they are selling well.
Looking forward

We have had a great uptake of applications for the Gaming Grants this year. We will be sorting through them over the month and getting back to applicants early in November.
In the gaming room, please continue to be respectful of our staff completing more frequent and deliberate interactions with yourselves to meet the obligations of the new laws. Please do not be offended, we are doing what we have to and what the previous government thinks is best for you. Remember to bet responsibly.
