October 2022 Cribbage Update

Kia Ora, Welcome,

Wow what a busy month we’ve had, we are currently playing our second Aggregate for Crib, with some good scores coming in. Last week we had four players go off the board, congratulations James and Ann, Sylvia and Diane. Richmond Club hosted the South Island Crib Tournament on 11 September and did a fantastic job. We had one team entered in the team’s event but also had 16 players playing as individuals. We were disappointed with our results both as a team and as individuals because we set our standards high, but upon hearing the runners up scores that look of disappointment and feeling of disappointment soon changed very quickly when we realized that our scores were higher than the Runners up. The pairs event was won by the husband-and-wife combo of Paul and Lesley Bulman with 52 pts. Now our stunned mullet looks of faces continued when they then named the winners of the Team Event which was also Hornby with everyone contributing well to the team score.

Our Section has even managed to foster a lovely couple from Auckland who joined our club when we last held the Nationals. They enjoyed our club, section and the people, so thanks to Brian and Stephanie we always enjoy your company.

I would also like to give a special mention to Sylvia and Brett who played their first South Island tournament.

On September 18, the Euchre Section hosted the Alan Cole Euchre tournament which is where you play Euchre against all the other sections within the club, this was another Tournament run well, thanks Moggy, Adrian,Tim, Claire and Gwen for selling raffles, it was a fantastic day. Crib entered two teams with our Section coming first and second, we look forward to defending the title next year. I must mention a big thank you to Wyn Eyllingham for her contribution to our team. Thanks Wyn. Also, thanks to Paul Bulman, Diana Heath to muster two teams and James Kavangh for organizing the teams.
