November 2025 – Travel Update

The Travel Section had two amazing trips in October.

The first trip was on Sunday, 12th October, a Waipara wineries tour with a visit to Torlesse Wines, where we got to taste several wines and two ports. They also put together some amazing platters for us. We all enjoyed this.

We then visited Georges Road Winery, where we had some very nice wines to taste. I personally recommend this winery.

This was followed by a visit to Iron Ridge Sculptures. These sculptures were amazing.

We finished our trip with a stop-off at Leithfield Hotel, where some decided on a meal and others waited until we returned to Hornby Club and ate there. It was a fantastic day.

The second trip was on Saturday, 18th October, when a group visited the Town Hall to see the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra Prom Night.

Those that attended this evening thoroughly enjoyed it.

Our next event is our Christmas Party on 21st November at 7pm in the Event Hall at the Hornby Club.

All Travel Section members are able to attend this without any restriction on numbers.

This will be a great night and will include a band with a difference, four lucky draws for 1⁄2 hams, and an amazing food package of canapés for 1 hour, followed by dancing and chatting, then supper to follow at 9.30pm.
