November 2025 – Racing Update
Thursday 2 Oct, 2025
Happy spring everyone…
We are now rocking into some fun times in the racing industry, with most horses having lost their winter coat and sporting shiny short coats, ready to race.
The richest horse race on turf was won by the Hong Kong phenomenon and deserved favourite, Ya King Rising. Then there was the Caulfield Cup, which is a lead-up race to the famous staying event of the Melbourne Cup, also won by the favourite—‘Half Yours’—and ridden by the first female jockey, Jamie Melham.
The Racing Section supported a team in the last All Sports night (photos attached), and BJ (me) as captain has banned alcohol next time—as the photos show, the sporting performance was sub-par… LOL LOL… more practice nights needed… hehe. Even though we slipped down, it was a great night had by all.
We went to Ashburton on the 19th for a section outing, which was greatly attended, and I must say thanks to those who did attend. I believe a few might have had heavy pockets on the return
bus ride home, Magoo especially. Well
done to your horse, Epilogue, winning the last!
Hope you all enjoy spring/summer racing and have a wee flutter on Melbourne Cup. And of course, come on down to support the club on the 2nd Tuesday of November, which is the 11th, New Zealand Trotting Cup Day.
Breakfast and beer or wine is only $25.00 and an awesome day to be had by all.
Happy betting,
Andy and BJ
