November 2025 – Managers Report

Hi all,

And just like that, we’re into November — a fantastic and busy month ahead with sport, racing, entertainment, and end-of-year functions kicking off.

Legends Bar will be buzzing with the All Blacks northern tour, the Black Caps vs West Indies series, Formula 1 with the drivers’ championship in close competition, and the Supercars Sandown 500.

Kicking off the month, we have the Black Caps on the 1st, the All Blacks taking on Ireland in the USA on the 2nd, followed by two big race weeks — the Melbourne Cup on Tuesday 4 November and the Club’s Annual NZ Trotting Cup Day on Tuesday 11 November. Join us for all the racing action!

This Month at the Club

• Mac & Mates – Legends Bar, 1 November

• Bingo – Back to the first Tuesday of each month, kicking off at 10am

• Quiz Night – Weekly in Pavilion Café from 6pm

• Jo’s Karaoke – First Friday in Pavilion Café

• Melbourne Cup – Tuesday 4 November, 5pm (TAB opens at 12pm)

• Cup Week and NZ Trotting Cup Breakfast at Hornby Club

• All Blacks – Northern Tour breakfast replays from 2–22 November

• Black Caps – West Indies T20 & ODI series (Tests in December)

• Supercars – Sandown 500

• F1 – Join us to watch and support Liam in the Brazilian and Las Vegas GPs at the Club

Food & Beverage

We’ve made a few changes to our weekly food offerings this month:

• Monday: Chef’s special replaces the small roast and single fish & chip special

• Tuesday: Fish & Chips and Roast special remain, with updated pricing due to food cost increases

• Wednesday: Nachos for $20 – perfect for Quiz Night

• Thursday: Two-for-one pizza or Burger & Beer – great for catching up, sharing pizzas, and playing Case the Ace

• Friday: Sliders are back – a popular favourite

The Buffet continues to be a hit, and the Chalmers Restaurant Wednesday–Saturday menu remains an affordable family option.

Looking Ahead to December

• Book your Christmas Buffet now before it sells out

• Old Timers Day – Sunday 30 November, $15 (tickets on sale now)

• All Sports Raffle – Drawn in December (tickets available at reception)

• New Year’s Eve: The ever-popular DnD is back – tickets on sale at the office from 17 November

Gaming Room

A new machine is arriving for Cup Week – make sure you get some time in on Sweet Tweets (Machine 17) before it’s swapped out.
Please continue to be respectful of staff completing more frequent interactions as part of our new compliance obligations. Remember to bet responsibly.

Grant applications closed last month and will be paid out this month. A list of successful applicants will be displayed on the noticeboard and in the gaming room.

Keep an eye out for our mid-month update, which will include Summer Holiday hours for Chalmers Restaurant, Pavilion Café, the Office, and the Van.
