November 2022 Pool Update

Wednesday 2 Nov, 2022

Hi guys and gals,

Well interclub has come to an end and we ended up with only one team playing off on finals day, but sadly going down in the morning to the Cashmere Panthers. We also had our Premier team, The Titans and Hornby Silver playing off for a spot on finals day, but they just missed out after the play offs.

We have had a couple of tournaments in October, the first an in-house and the other a Cashmere’s mixed scotch pairs.

The Cashmere tournament was taken out by Richy Whitty and Clare Shanaher over last year’s winners.

The in-house B grade was taken out for the second year running by Graeme Simons over Murray Robb. Murray is just new to the Hornby pool scene and did extremely well to make the final.

We also held our prize giving. The players who took out titles are:

Lee Brady – Most Outstanding Male
Corien Simpson – Most Outstanding Female
Darren White – Most Improved Male
Wendy Carlson – Most Improved Female

In-House Tournaments

John Gower – Booth Anderson Open Singles
Clare Shanaher – June Smith Ladies Singles
Clare Shanaher & Sherralee Boyce – Jan May Ladies Pairs
Alan Robertson & Lee Brady – Jack Elcock Open Pairs
Graeme Simons – Jamie Reece B Grade
John Renwick & Sherralee Boyce – John Doig Mixed Pairs
John Renwick & Barry Henderson – Hubbard Drawn Pairs

Highest Averages for each team

Paul Blackler – The Titans (Premier)
Lee Brady – Hornby Green (Div 1)
Darren White – Hornby Silver (Div 1)
Letitia Jackson – Hornby Yellow (Div 1)
Pauline Morris – Hornby Black (Div 2)
Errol Hume – Hornby Miscues (Div 2)
Andy Parke – Hornby Diamonds (Div 3)

We will be running a summer league over the off period, so please keep an eye out on the pool notice board as well as the Hornby Pool Section Facebook page.

Regards,
