May 2024 – Travel Update

Hello everyone. Travel section had 28 members depart the Hornby Club at 9am on the 28 March to visit Rakaia Island Farm.
This was a very interesting day and the 28 members who attended had a most enjoyable day. We then stopped off at the Bridge Restaurant in Prebbleton for lunch. They served us very large and tasty platters.
We arrived back at Hornby Club at approximately 3.30pm. We had our AGM on Monday 15 April. The following members were elected as our committee: Chairperson – Derek Shearer; Vice Chairperson – Diane Heath; Treasurer – Trevor Chamberlain; Secretary – Chris Gibson. Congratulations to those members.
Tuesday 23 April, 41 members are leaving by train to Picton, where we have three nights and will enjoy a trip on the Pelorous mail boat on 24 April. On Anzac Day, some will attend their dawn parade and join in after to meet up with RSA folks. Friday 26 April we leave Picton to travel around the Marlborough region including a couple of wineries then have lunch before checking in to Blenheim Hotel for the night.
We depart next day by train back to Christchurch.
