Managers Report – May

Wednesday 1 May, 2024

Hi Members,

Thanks again for supporting your Club. We had a great April, the Club was consistently steady, with a great concert by the DnD Show Band at the start of the month, with ANZAC day, school holidays and Sweet Azz to end the month.

The raffle table has been busy with the Oysters selling out fast each night. Chase the Ace, on Thursdays at 7pm, is yet to go and is at $2750, at the time of writing, Crack the Cube went once last month and the Members Draw on Wednesday is still a crowd favourite.

Please get in and renew your membership to maintain your number, this has been extended until the 30th May, thank you to those that have. If you can’t get into the Club, please renew via the app.

Hornby Club offers monthly tours from a board member. This is on the first Tuesday of every month. See reception for more information.

We are now into Election season at Hornby Club. Please see the ad in this newsletter for when Remits (bylaw and rule amendment proposals), and nominations close. Thank you, Warren Farrelly, on behalf of the Board for being this year’s Returning Officer. Eligible Financial member voter list is printed on 30 May.

The events calendar is in the newsletter for all our music events, and weekly TV Schedule in the Bar.

Food and Beverages: We are starting an $8 Coffee and Scone special in the Pavilion between 8am and 10am. The Bangers and Mash has sold well, and our $12 lunch offerings on Monday and Tuesday are really well supported thanks. The chef pies and cabinet food in Pavilion are made in house by our team, try one soon.

Gaming room: We have an update coming for machine 11 this month. Check out the Fireball multi once it is here. Your cooperations with our team around the new regulations that the Club staff must enforce is much appreciated. The feedback we are getting from other Club members on what we do is very positive. The more frequent and deliberate interactions with the team are essential for us meeting the obligations of the new laws. Please do not be offended, we are doing what we have to and what the previous government thinks is best for you. Remember to bet responsibly.

See you in the Club

Tim Mathews
