May 2023 Pool Update

Tuesday 2 May, 2023

Hi everyone,

Last month was a relatively quiet month regarding tournaments, so there is nothing to report on that front.

Cashmere Club held its annual Molly Memorial Drawn Scotch Pairs tournament, and this was taken out by Peter Agnew and Korbin Symonds- Shakespeare over Leo Tafu and Craig Osbourne. It is so great to see so many new and up and coming players coming through and some of the young ones will be ones to watch in the years to come.

All divisions of interclub have started now, with our Premier and Division two teams starting the first week in April.

On Tuesday 19 April, our Premier team “The Titans” played the “Richmond Stickmen” for the augural Rangiwhetu Shield. This shield is held by the winning team until another team beats them on the night, and up until that Tuesday the Stickmen have held if for a record 27 times. The build up to this match up, and the banter that went back and forth between these two teams made for a great watch on the night, with our own Titans taking the shield off the Stickmen winning 31 – 24. What an effort and one they should be proud of. Let’s hope they can do better than Richmond and hold it for 28 times to take the record.

We have a couple of tournaments coming up next month, so I will report on these then.

Please keep an eye out on the pool section board to keep you up to date with all tournaments coming up.

Regards,
