May 2023 Cribbage Update
Tuesday 2 May, 2023
Kia ora, Welcome,
We have been back playing crib on Wednesday nights with good numbers and new faces, which is great to see. A few weeks ago, we had Russell complete
the night with a clean card, winning every game, this is a great achievement so congratulations Russell. We have now had our AGM, thank you to everyone that attended. I would like to welcome in our in new Committee for 2023 Crib:
Chairperson – Diane Health
Vice Chairperson – Steve Stevens
Secretary – Ann Kavangh
Treasurer – TBA
Committee – Rose Stevens, James Kavanagh, Derek Petch, Ricky Winter, Caren Gillet, Brent Gillett.
I would like to express our gratitude and thanks to Caren Gillet who has stepped down as Treasurer but continues on as a Committee Member.
Congratulations to Steve Stevens on being elected as Vice Chairperson.
At our AGM it was voted that Diana Health be elected as a Life Member in the Crib Section. This is due to her contribution in our Section, 14 years as Chairperson and counting. Thank you, Di and congratulations!
We have just finished our Crib Nationals in Auckland, where we sent 12 members to play at Manurewa, this was a two-day tournament, with the teams’ event on Saturday. We started on a high after the first round, but slowly as the day
went on, our scores slowly deteriorated.
When it finished on Sunday, we quietly confident that we were well out of the running, only to find out that we were placed second in the team event with a total of 313pts. Poriua won with a total of 315, so only one game in it. Gina Howden-Winter was 4th equal overall the best of our crew. We had an absolute blast meeting old mates from different clubs, great banter and laughter. Proud of the Team and all members that represented our club.
Thanks,
Cribbage Crew
