May 2022 Fishing Update
Wednesday 4 May, 2022
In the past we had the Te Puke Fishing Club Members visit our Club from the North Island to catch the mighty Salmon. In appreciation they gave us a Trophy, this trophy has collected dust in our Trophy cabinet for the past 15 years. With the passing of one of our foundation members late last year (Glenn Milnes) we have decided to make this trophy the “Glenn Milnes Memorial”. It will be competed for annually on a Charter out of Lyttleton. This was to have taken place on 23 April, but bad weather stopped it going ahead and the new date is 11 June.
With most areas for fishing now closing on 30 April, it will be a quiet time and we are looking forward to our Mid-Winter Dinner booked for 25 June at the Hornby Club.
The next thing on our calendar is the Twizel Weekend on the First Weekend in November, Jason will be trying to defend the Trophy he proudly won last year. Jason has booked the Twizel Batch for that weekend and no doubt he will be using his newly acquired large boat to get an even bigger fish this year.
Remember book your accommodation early, we go to the Combined Clubs Twizel for our prize giving and you can purchase very good meals to round the day off, also the raffles on offer at this club are superb and only Hornby Club raffles would beat them.
Time to check all your gear and update any lines you have not used for a while.
