May 2021 Indoor Bowls Update

April has been a good month for our bowlers. The South Island Chartered Clubs Championships were held at Richmond over Easter, and our members had the following results.
In the singles, Justin Thompson and Joanne Hill reached the semi-finals. In the pairs, Justin Thompson teamed up with a player from Woolston and won the Pairs, Dave Bullock and Jenny Hamilton and Dave Philpott and Bev Diamond reached the semi-finals. In the Triples, Mike King, Dave Bullock and Katrina Wealleans were runner up. In the Fours, Dave Woods, Blair Woods, Grant Richardson and Margaret Woods won the Fours.
In the Canterbury Open Singles, Katrina Wealleans was runner up.
In the Canterbury Mixed Pairs, two of our teams reached the semi’s, Mike King with Pam Phair and Katrina Wealleans with Greg Hill. Julie Dalley was runner up playing with a player from Woolston.
Our first club championship run at Avonhead School Hall saw Gary Ashby win the singles, with Bev Diamond Runner up.
This has been a great start to our bowling season.
