March 2023 Pool Update

Hi everyone,
Well, where did January go, and we are nearly through February.
The 2023 Inter-club season will be kicking off in March with Divisions 1 / 2 and 3 starting 8 March and the Premier division starting 11 April.
Summer league finished up this month. This was a big success, and I would like to thank Mabel Silbery for running this.
The winners for both nights were:
- Tuesday – Tier 1 – Paul Morris over Frankie Chapman / Tier 2 – Lee Brady over a new player to Hornby, in Ben Gao / Tier 3 Justin Dykhoff over Sandy Brindson.
- Wednesday – Tier 1 – Stephen Duddy over Chris Devereux / Tier 2 – Candy Grant over Jan Devereux / Tier 3 – Ashneel Chetty over Richard Bassett
The Masters Games were this year held in Whanganui and Pauline Morris took home silver in the ladies 8 ball final, so well-done Pauline.
We have held our first in-house tournament this year, with us kicking off with the Hubbard Drawn Pairs. This was taken out by John Renwick and Steve Denton over Richy Whitty and Sherralee Boyce in a down to the last frame final.
It was great to see so many players, new and old turn up.
Hornby is also hosting the tier 2 super league again this year with the red and yellow balls. The rules for this have been changed from Blackball Rules to International Eight Ball Rules (Supreme Rules). These are the rules that were used in the Trans-Tasman matches recently held in Australia as well as what they are playing in the pocket series that NZ has 4 players playing in this series.
