March 2023 Outdoor Bowls Update

Thursday 2 Mar, 2023

Playing any outdoor sport in Canterbury has its challenges with the weather especially wind and rain.

Our last month’s game played at Bowls Hornby encountered a day where the temperature was on the high side, with little wind and a fast-running green, it should have been perfect for playing good bowls. This was not to be, with only one team mastering the hot conditions – the Russell Reekie skipped team with Syd Payne, Peter Sutcliffe and Greg Hill with super sub Dick Wragg winning both games by large margins.

As the summer season for bowls is coming to an end and that was the last game for this season at Bowls Hornby. As a Section, we would like to thank them for the use of their facilities.

Our next game is our coach trip on 19 March, please check the notice board at the Hornby Club.

Stay safe.
