March 2022 Travel Update

Tuesday 1 Mar, 2022

Hello to everyone,

On Sunday 20 February, 37 travel members visited the Antarctic centre for an absolutely fantastic afternoon.

They started off with the Haglund ride which some were very excited about doing, we visited the huskies, and penguins the storm room which was certainly a wake-up call, with the freezing cold wind building up to a frenzy. Then the unbelievable 4D movie, this was absolutely amazing to the point when the seal was so close you thought it could touch you, you went through glaciers and as the ice broke off you got wet!!

Lindsey who I met in the Legends Bar last year explained what he could do for us, and he certainly excelled himself.

They even gave us hot tea or coffee with beautiful cheese scones to finish off the visit.

I would recommend if you haven’t visited this amazing centre recently – do take the time to go.

We then called in to Avonhead Tavern on our way back to have a quiet drink and chat for an hour. The Avonhead kindly reserved a side area for us away from other patrons. This was greatly appreciated.

We finished at the Hornby Club for further drinks and chat, so all and all it was a great afternoon and evening out.

We have had five new members join our section already this year, so a big welcome goes out to you all.
