March 2021 Cards Update
Wednesday 3 Mar, 2021
Hi everyone, the Euchre/Cards section is back in full swing again with our regular Thursday nights.
We started off our year in early February with opening night, a fun night of 10 games of housie and a few games of Euchre. Prior to these activities we had a lovely buffet finger food meal and refreshments. A great start to our new year! We had 59 Club members attend this night and it was awesome to see eight new members come along.
Well done to those that won the Club vouchers and cakes of chocolates as prizes on the night. Thanks to Wayne, as Housie Caller and Malcolm, placing numbers on the number grid. Great combination, you two!!
We had our first regular Thursday Progressive night last week, and now we continue each week. We will however have our Pairs night on the last Thursday of each month, starting end of March. Choose your own partner and you play with them all night. We can pair you up on that night if need be.
Some of our section (28 members), played in a Pairs fun tournament on Sunday 14 February, along with eight Crib Section members. Another social, fun afternoon which the Crib Section report will mention details and photos of.
A couple of extra events coming up in March:
14 March: Interclub Six-Handed Tournament
18 March: ‘St Patricks ‘ inhouse Six-Handed Tournament
We also have a team of eight competing in the Clubs New Zealand, Annual South Island Pairs Steinlager Tournament in early March at Papanui Club. There will be 15-18 other Clubs competing on this day.
Our Rangiora Trots Raceday trip, that was meant to be held on Feb 20, was cancelled due to us not having enough support from members. We have the chance to attend the next Rangiora Raceday on Sunday 23 May. It will cost $50 p.p. which includes bus, all meals and all refreshments all day. Please consider this day, as we need to know this
time whether we have enough numbers to go. Names need to be collated.
We wish to thank all our supporters that purchase our ‘Lotto Bonus Numbers’ that Cheryl sells and pay outs during the week to all our regular members, including many social section members. This is our major fundraiser that goes towards our activities and functions. We encourage any new Club members that would like to be part of this, so please contact Cheryl Gianelly.
To finish off, any members that wish to join our Euchre Section or want to come and have a look, please feel free to come along at 6.45pm any Thursday night. We finish approximately 9.30pm.
Till next month
