Friday 1 Sep, 2023

Hello Members,

What a great August. The Netball, Women’s Football World Cup, Basket Ball World Champs, Dart Worlds and better not forget The Warriors..!! Our big screen has been in demand.

Sections have been busy with national championships and final rounds of local competition interclub. Good luck to you all. The Raffles table has been busy as well, so thank you to all who have been in and supported the Club, from All Blacks Breakfasts, to work and community group meetings, to sporting competitions and socializing.

It was great to see the D&D Showband back on the last weekend of last month to a sell out concert upstairs. I hear those who went had a brilliant time.

Bingo and Quiz night were a great success. Thank you to those who participated. For the Quiz teams, we will be running a monthly competition until 2024’s weekly winter season kicks off in May.

Food and Beverages

Our $12 Monday and Tuesday lunch specials continue to sell well. Get in there between 11am and 2pm to get your small roast or small fish and chips.

Check out the new burgers and starters Wednesday to Saturday in Chalmers Restaurant. They are delicious and selling well.

Raffles

Thank you Outdoor Bowls for your Raffle Table efforts last month. You’ve continued the great work. Travel Section I hear you are very organized for this month, well done.

Again, friendly reminder to please have your tickets available to be counted, we need to be accurate here as the profits from the raffle table go back to funding the sections of the Club.

The Board is reviewing the Van service offering again and will be trialing a Tuesday to Sunday service from October 2023. This is due to the Van service costing the Club over $100k a year after being subsidised by members payments.

Gaming Room

We have a new game on machine #2 coming, so keep an eye out for it in the coming weeks. There are new regulations coming into place over the coming months the Club staff have to enforce. This will mean more frequent and deliberate interactions with our team. Please do not be offended, was are doing what we have to and what the government thinks is best for you. Remember to bet responsibly.

We have started taking Grant requests, so if you know of any sports clubs or charitable organizations that may be interested, please let them know July is when our Grant applications open.

See you in the Club,

Tim Mathews
