Managers Report – November 2023

Hello Members,

Where has the year gone? November already!!

What a great October, Bathurst, the Rugby World Cup culminating with the final on the 29th (no result at the time of writing this). As Terry said, the AB’s have done well to make the final and it would be fantastic to see a great game and win for the team, we can only wait and see.

We’ve had a couple of great events upstairs recently with the Zonta Sports awards, the Girl Power Concert, and it is looking busy leading into Christmas up there, so thank you sections for letting the Club use this space for the events & functions.

This month we have:

  • Neil Diamond tribute concert on the 4th (This Saturday)
  • Quiz night on Wednesday 1 November
  • Karaoke Friday 3 November
  • Melbourne Cup on 7 November (TAB manned terminal open from 10am)
  • Cup Week – Tuesday 14 November – Club Cup Day Event
  • Wednesday 22 November – Whitebait Lunch
  • Saturday 25 November – Totally 80’s Show upstairs
  • Old Timers Thursday 30 November

Quiz night continues monthly, on the first Wednesday of each month until May when it returns Weekly, until Labour Day 2024.

Special note to the SPLASH FOR CASH the Greater Hornby Residents Association is putting on. D&D Show Band and a Buffet Dinner for $60. Get your tickets and support our Community.

Food and Beverages

Whitebait Lunch was a hit again this year and we will be having another one this month on Wednesday the 22nd, Tickets on sale on 7 November. Our $12 Monday and Tuesday lunch specials continue to sell well. Get in there between 11am and 2pm to get your small roast or small fish and chips.

Keep an eye out for a new competition in November and December for Chalmers Restaurant.

Make sure you’re booked in for the Christmas Buffets in December, 3, 10 & 17 December..!!

Raffles

Steady month again for the Raffle Table. Keep up the great work and we are looking forward to another busy month with extra raffles on Race day Tuesday.

Looking forward

• Cup Week – The Clubs annual Tuesday NZ Trotting Cup Day is all on.
• TAB has put up a 50 inch TV to be won by people betting $10 or more during Cup week. Draw will take place on Sunday.
• Chase the Ace is at $2450 (AS AT 1 NOVEMBER).
• Crack the Cube is over $800 as at 1 November. Be sure to be in the draw and at the Club on a Thursday or Friday evening for these draws.

• First Friday every month

New Members

• The first Tuesday of each month at 6.00pm between February and October.
• Meet a couple of our board members who will show you around our great new facility and advise you of all that our Club and sections has to offer.

Raffles

• Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4.00pm
• Saturday 11.00am to 1.00pm
• Remember your bags – No more plastic bags available.

Wednesdays

• Members draws 2 x $100 vouchers on your card – drawn after 6pm, after the raffles.

Thursdays – Chase the Ace

• Be a member, buy a drink between 5pm and 7pm and be in the draw. Winner will be drawn between 7.05pm and 7.30pm – You could win $2450!

Crack the Cube

• On EVERY Friday– sign up by 6.15pm to be drawn between 6.30pm and 6.45pm – You could win over $800!

$12 Lunch Special – 11am – 2.00pm Monday and Tuesday

• Small Roast or Small Fish and chips

$20 Meal Deals (Lunch and Dinner)

– Wednesday – $25 Pizza and a Jug of Speights or two glasses of house wine or a Jug of soft drink (Wine (house) or soft drink)

The Van service offering will be trialling a Tuesday to Sunday service from this month.

Gaming room

We have just made our Grants for the year and the Club has donated over $49,000 back into the community. Please note there are new regulations now in place that the Club staff must enforce. This will mean more frequent and deliberate interactions with our team. Please do not be offended, we are doing what we have to and what the government thinks is best for you.
