Managers Report May 2023

Hello Members,

Another great month in the Club, with ANZAC Day, Easter, and the school holidays bringing additional busy days for us.

We also had TWO Special General Meetings:

Life Membership for Kevin Cole

This saw over 140 people fill the Pavilion in resounding support for Kevin’s Life Membership nomination. Congratulations Kevin!!

Rules Update

• We had 64 members in attendance for the meeting to query and discuss the proposed changes. The updates passed with the three fourths majority being reached for them to pass.
• A summary update on the changes is provided separately in this newsletter.
• The rules have been lodged and are in effect now for the upcoming election.
• The new membership category will come into action AFTER Mother’s Day.

The month started off with a real buzz, having partnered with 99 Bikes to give away an E-Bike, won by Shirley Wilson!! Congratulation Shirley and I understand you now have a VERY lucky grandchild with a new e-bike..!! The Club also gave away a Webber BBQ and five $50 vouchers.

It’s been great to see the sections back in full swing, travelling for competitions and enjoying success in your competitions. Congratulations to you all. Moggy Murphy, congratulations on your election as Chair of the All Sports Committee for the next 12 months.

Annual General Meeting

• Sunday 11 June – 10.00am Elections
• Remits Closed 30 April at 6.00pm • Nominations open 20 May 2023
• Nominations close 3 June 2023
• Election Day is Saturday 17 June

The Members Van / Shuttle

We will be sharing a separate update on our van service in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, for clarity, on days that the van is on until “Bar Close”, this means that the service is available until 30 minutes after last drinks are called. Van finish times:
• Sunday to Wednesday 9pm finish.
• Thursday 10pm finsih
• Friday and Saturday Bar close finsih

Regular activities in the Club this month we have:

New Members

• The first Tuesday of each month at 6.00pm between February and October, you can meet a couple of our board members who will show you around our great new facility and advise you of all that our Club and sections has to offer.

Raffles

• Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4.00pm • Saturday 11.00am to 1.00pm Wednesdays & Thursdays
• Members draws 2 x $100 vouchers on your card – drawn after 6pm, after the raffles.

Crack the Cube

• On EVERY Friday– sign up by 6.15pm to be drawn between 6.30pm and 6.45pm – You could win over $500

$20 Meal Deals (Lunch and Dinner)

• Wednesday Wings and 12 oz Beer (Wine (house) or soft drink)
• Thursday Burger and 12 oz Beer (Wine (house) or soft drink)
• Friday Steak, shoestring fries and garlic butter

Staff

Welcome back Tony from a well-deserved break. You will see a couple of new faces, specifically Ann, our new Duty Manager who has moved to Christchurch to be closer to her family and Vincent our new Barista, who makes a lovely coffee.

Gaming Room

Hope you are enjoying the game updates. We have a couple of swaps coming in July on #1 and #10, so if you like them play them while they are here. The swaps are for a Multi Game that includes Foxy Fortune and Money Beans, and a newer Power Guardian game. Remember to bet responsibly.

We will start taking Grant requests in July, so if you know of any sports clubs or charitable organisations than may be interested, please let them know July is when our Grant applications open.
