Manager’s Report July 2023

Saturday 1 Jul, 2023

Hello Members,

What a great June..!! Congratulations Kevin and Brian for your fantastic legacies you leave with the Club. Your service to our members has been unwavering and appreciated by all.

Welcome Terry, our new President, Barry Grose, congratulations on your Vice President election, it will be great working with you both. Daniel Gisberts, our new Treasurer, I look forward to implementing some of the communication tools with our Sections we have discussed over the next year.

Congratulations to the Golf Section last month on a brilliantly run competition, we have had only great feedback, and Crib had a fun trip to Nationals.

Food and Beverages

Monday 3 July will see the updated menus for Chalmers Restaurant and Legends Bar. Please come and try the updates in Chalmers, there are some real crowd pleasers with Gourmet Burgers and some Winter Warmers. We are also implementing an all-day cabinet offering that becomes our late- night menu.

This includes, but is not exclusive to:

• Toasties
• Pies; and
• Lasagna
• Order from the Café during the day or at the Bar after 8.00pm

Sadly we have to pass on a price increase for our beverages thanks to the government’s 6.65% excise tax increase. This was announced on Friday 30 June, as our treasurer’s first member facing activity. I’m sure you will give him the usual grief, but do be kind, these updates are out of our control.

Operating hours update – After approval from the Board we are returning to our old operating hours.

Legends Bar food:

• 10am to 7.30pm – Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
• 10am to 8.30pm – Wednesday & Thursday
• 10am to 9.00pm – Friday and Saturday

Chalmers Restaurant:

• Open Wednesday to Sunday, 4pm Bar, 5pm Dining
• Weekend Days – Available for group functions / bookings of 20 or more (two weeks’ notice required)

Raffles

It is fantastic to see the Raffle Table continue to go so well. This month we see the Fishing Section on the raffle table Wednesdays and Sundays with Nikki, Sonia or Jordan. Thank you sections for taking these days.
On a frustrating note, we have had to reduce the number of raffles up at once as our raffle tills are consistently down. Please do make sure you show the staff, section or board member all your tickets so we can count these before taking payment. Friendly reminder we do have cameras watching this table.

Looking forward

The Members Van / Shuttle

Van Service area update is included in this newsletter.

From 1 July we have started two drop offs on a Friday and Saturday night to Rolleston and Lincoln. From 1 July the area we service in Riccarton has been reduced. The reasons for this are:

• After reviewing the GPS the area is not serviced very often (i.e. not many members live in that area that use the Van)
• When the area is being asked for a pick-up or drop-off by the few people it does service, it is at rush-hour and the van is being taken out of action for over one hour at a time for the remaining members.
• Van Price increase for individual rides form 1 July 2023
• Van 10 ticket concession price now $40 from reception
• Repeating last month, for clarity, on days that the Van is on until “Bar Close”, this means that the service is available until 30 minutes after last drinks are called.

Van finish times

• Sunday to Wednesday – 9pm finish
• Thursday – 10pm finish
• Friday and Saturday – Bar Close Finish
