Manager’s Report for October 2022

Tuesday 4 Oct, 2022

Hello again,

We are well into spring already with daylight savings
now giving us longer evenings to enjoy. To help you enjoy these evenings we have updated the menu in Chalmers for our Wednesday to Saturday trade. Come on in and try the new dishes.

Outside of the Club

  • Dart Section member Kayden Milne is competing in the World Youth Championships the second weekend of October. Good luck Kayden!!
  • Speights Shield is at Kaiapoi on 9 October, has your section got their team together?
  • Bathurst is on the big screen Sunday 9 October from 11am, with the Top 10 Shootout on the previous evening. Why not book in for breakfast or Brunch on Sunday before grabbing yourself your seat for the big race?Build UpdateThe main change you will see in the Club from 15 October will be closure of the main entrance, and a temporary main entrance at the swinging double doors in front of the trophy cabinet. Also this month the Civil works will continue with the removal of the temporary site office from the old TAB car parks.

The Civil work in front of Pavilion Café and in the mall/Warehouse carpark will be complete Friday 15 October. The Civil team will then move on to the Main entrance drop off area. This is expected to take 4 week and be complete in mid-November 2022.

For van users this will mean pick-up and drop-off from 15 October will be outside the Pavilion entrance.

Inside we have seen our new meeting room and storage area completed, curtains in place upstairs in the Board Room and Event Centre/AllSports hall, as well as the inside plants in our Chalmers Restaurant softening that space nicely.

So it is really exciting that the end of the disruptions is so close, and we will have a functionable, good looking entrance and drop off area that reflects the wonderful building your Club has become.

Trading

  • Chalmers Restaurant and Functions continue to be the source of our uplift on last year’s results, alongside not having a lockdown. We are excited with these offerings and happy to see the investments in these spaces paying off.
  • Legends Bar continues as the mainstay of our Club, so thank you for frequenting for the weekend sports events, raffles and your own catch ups.
  • Pavilion Café is having great lunch trade. You will see a bit more advertising for breakfasts and morning offerings over the next few weeks as we try to grow this with the fences removed from in front of the Cafe.Gaming
  • Keep an eye out for a couple of game changes later in the month
  • The Board has approved over $50,000 of donations to the community from our Gaming Room operations. You will see the list of the organisations we support in the Gaming Room at the end of the month.StaffWe have found a new star in James Robinson, our new Food & Beverage Manager. You will have seen him about the Club, on the floor over the last month. He brings a great attitude and some strong experience to our leadership team.
