Manager’s Report for August 2022

Tuesday 2 Aug, 2022

Hello again,

Another month and another great tournament, some fantastic functions, popular concerts and strong section activity at the Club. Congratulations to the Dart section on a well-run National Championships. It was fantastic to see Kayden Milne win and to see our Club being used for what it was designed. As I write this, the Bird show is setting up for a busy weekend as well. All the best to those involved.

Trading

  • Legends Bar continues to be popular for sporting events (even if the performance isn’t what we would all like to see from the AB’s. Well done to the Irish though, they did play well), and our food specials and updated menu have been popular. Bangers and mash, Lambs Fry and bacon both being popular additions.
  • Pavilion Café’s lunch time trade is fantastic, thank you to all of you frequenting our lovely café. You make the day work really well for the Club.
  • Chalmers Restaurant is trading better and better, the more people that try it, the more people seem to keep coming back. There have been some interior design updates to help refine the space and offering, which has also helped, with more to come. Sunday is such a popular day and the feedback we have received on the changes to the Buffet are really positive. Please remember to book, as your Club is popular with all. Thanks again for trying all your Club has to offerLast month we were still hit with COVID, to a lesser extent, and continue to be on occasions, so please bear with us, we are doing our best to cover these shortages, but on occasions are unable to.

You will see a few new faces on the staffing team as we continue to train up our new members. The team is working hard and are doing a great job, but please do be patient when required.

    Menu offerings

As noted above, we have had a couple of changes in the Legends Bar and Pavilion Café. They have been positively received thank you. We can bring back some of the items removed on special should the demand be there, so do let us know.

  • Our Weekly specials have been updated and are also selling well:
    • –  Wings Wednesday $18
    • –  Burger & Beer Thursday $24
    • –  Lambs Fry & Bacon and House drink $22
  • Frustratingly, we will need to put the price of coffee up in August to cover the increase in Coffee and Milk from our suppliers. Again, I apologise but this is out of our control.
  • We have a couple of new Beers on Tap from Lion:
    • –  Emersons Super Quench, a Low Carb, hoppy Pilsner, replaces Three Wolves
    • –  Steinlarger Ultra, another low carb beer with punch, replaces Steinlarger Light

– Steiny Light will still be available in bottles

We are looking at putting in a separate food ordering till for Thursday to Sunday dinner trade in the Legends Bar. This, I understand, we used to have in the old Bar and it worked well. It will assist in speeding up drinks service at the bar and improving accuracy of all food orders.

We are aiming for the end of August, early September to introduce this.

In the Club this month we have:

NEW MEMBERS

• The first Tuesday of each month at 6.00pm between February and October. Meet a couple of our board members who will show you around our great new facility and advise you of all that our Club and sections has to offer

BUILD

  • Work on the carpark has started. It has been delayed slightly due to the drawings not matching what has been dug up. They will restart as soon as they can. See the Build update for the pictures and timing.
  • Remaining contract work update
    • –  The work on the glass divide between Legends Bar and Pavilion Café will start this month and be completed by mid-September
    • –  The additional meeting space as well as increased toilet capacity and an accessible toilet being added upstairs, work will start as soon as the new doors needed are on site (There is up to a 12 week wait on these if you ordered now…)In our Gaming room the new payout machine is in place. After a couple of teething issues, it is now working reliably. Have a look and see next time you are in the Club, if a play on the Pokies is you bag.BEHAVIOR REMINDER
  • Just a reminder that we have rules around how you as members should talk to other members, guests and staff. We have had a couple of instances that have been raised outside of the Judicial process timing recently.
  • Please be kind and remember your manners while you are engaging with others at the Club or representing the Club.Thank you again for keeping your Club a busy, fun, and engaging place to be. Our team enjoy looking after you and working alongside you all.

Kind regards,
Tim Mathews
