Manager’s Report: February 2023

Hi all,

What a lovely Summer we have been having here in Christchurch. Trust you all had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year with family and friends.

Thank you to all of you who came to our official opening weekend, Christmas Bonanza, and New Years’ Eve concert, what great occasions they were, and how good was it to see the Club in full flight.

It is good to see the Sections getting back into action in the Club, with meetings, tournaments and events February is upon us already, organized by the Club this month we have:

• Club Family Picnic on 12 February
• Weekly music activities in Pavilion and Jody Direen upstairs on the 18th
• Weekly Promotions, drawn after 6pm, are back from 8 February (After Waitangi weekend)
• Wednesday and Thursday Members Draw
• Friday Crack the Cube
• TAB lucky loser – Now a $50 Club voucher

We are looking forward to having the Event Centre / All Sports area back from 17 February for the sections and community groups to use again.

Chalmers Restaurant opened on 18 January and it is great to see so many people book in again and the restaurant get off to a great start to the year. Raffles have kicked off to a good start for 2023 as well.

• Clubs NZ Conference
• Monday night Pool Super League starts for an 8 week season on 8 tables

The biggest changes you will see in the Club for 2023, starting in February are to Office hours and the Member Van / Shuttle service.

Office hours, Sections, please remember if you are after information or printing before your meetings, please give the team three (3) working days, as per the Rules:

Office hours

Monday & Tuesday 9am to 5pm Wednesday to Sunday 9am to 8pm

The Members Van / Shuttle

The changes are to keep the service repeatable, reliable and to have set expectations for all members. Finish times are now set for Sunday through Thursday.

For drop offs, the van will not leave the Club with less than two people before 7pm (unless it is called away for a pick-up). After 7pm the van will wait 15 minutes each time it returns to the Club before leaving. This will be called over the speaker upon arrival and again before departure.

Sunday to Wednesday: 9pm finish
Thursday: 10pm finish
Friday & Saturday: Bar Close finish

Regular activities

New Members

• The 1st Tuesday of each month at 6.00pm between February
and October
• Meet a couple of our board members who will show you around our great new facility and advise you of all that our Club and sections has to offer
Raffles
• Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 4.00pm
• Saturday 11.00am to 1.00pm

Wednesdays & Thursdays

• Members draws: 2 x $100 vouchers on your card – drawn after 6pm, after the raffles

Crack the Cube

• On EVERY Friday– sign up by 6.15pm to be drawn between 6.30pm & 6.45pm – You could win over $500

Staff

We have a number of young new faces that joined the team over November and December and we will have a couple of staff back that you won’t have seen over summer.

We have a couple of new Van Drivers and we have said farewell to Dave after more than 15 years of service at the Club. Thank you Dave and all the best.

I do note, although, fingers crossed, we are through the most of Covid, we do still have some challenges here and occasionally will have to make last minute change to the roster or some operating hours. Please bear with us though this, it is frustrating for us all.

The last changes we have for the month are in the gaming room. You will see a number of game swaps over the coming weeks. Hope those who frequent the room will like the updates.

I have enjoyed catching up with those I’ve seen over summer, and I look forward to catching up with those who have been away over summer or looking after family during February. Welcome to our new members who have and continue to join the Club, please do not hesitate to ask staff or reception for help if you need it and remember we have New Members day on the first Tuesday of each month at 6pm.
