June 2024 Manager’s Report

Friday 31 May, 2024

We are looking forward to a busy June after a steady May. Another Oyster Lunch is being held on the 12th (Tickets on sale NOW), after the long weekend 1-3 June where we are hosting a Boxing Tournament, Snooker tournament and many functions. The Club has entered in Hospitality NZ Peoples Choice Award, please support us for this by following the link in the book so we can beat Richmond who won last year.

Then we head into the AGM and Elections, with nominations open now and closing at 6pm on Saturday 8 June:

• Saturday 8 June 6pm Nominations Close

• Sunday 16 June 10am AGM – Legends Bar – Members ONLY

Saturday 22 June 9am–6pm Election Day

To vote, you must have been a current financial member as at 6pm 8 June 2024. Thank you to those who have put in Remits for the 2024 AGM. I note there was an advert posted in the Star by a member on 30 May 2024. Friendly reminder that any publication using Hornby Club in the public domain requires approval from the Board. The Club has been advised that the advertised matter is not one that is subject to be voted on through the Remit process.

Looking back

We had a great May and it was fantastic to see you support the Hornby Pool players going to the Worlds in the Bingo night on the 18th, the first Oyster lunch was a great success again and it was great to see you supporting the Friday night music back in Pavilion. You also raised over $250 for Pink Ribbon Foundation on Saturday 25 May. Again thank you for the support.

Chase the Ace is back up over $1000 on Thursdays, Crack the Cube has restarted at $500 after being won on 24 May, congratulations Hamish, and the Members draw continues to bring a great crowd on Wednesdays before our weekly Quiz and the interclub Pool.

Gaming room

We have an update coming for machine 11 this month. Check out the Fireball multi once it is here. Your cooperation with our team around the new regulations that the Club staff must enforce is much appreciated. The feedback we are getting from other Club members on what we do is very positive. The more frequent and deliberate interactions with the team are essential for us to meet the obligations of the new laws. Please do not be offended, we are doing what we have to and what the previous government thinks is best for you. Remember to bet responsibly.

See you in the Club,

Tim Mathews
