June 2023 Indoor Bowls Update

Welcome members,
The weather and temperatures have certainly dropped and changing, but at least we are keeping warm and dry indoors.
May has been another busy month.
Three of our members, Jenny Hamilton, Pat Hartland and Bev Diamond were selected for the Canterbury Inaugural Ladies 8’s Triangular, travelling to Ashburton playing between Ashburton and South Canterbury.
Canterbury came out on top. Congratulations team with Leo Ashby being our successful manager.
Our Club drawn Championship fours, run over two nights, was won by Chris Matthews, Graham Franks, James Aldridge and Dave Jamieson. Runner up was Leo Ashby, Jenny Hamilton, Ian Eddy and Trish Robinson.
Our Club Single’s championship was won by Blair Woods, second was Pat Boticia Jnr.
Congratulations to Darryl Gallagher, winning the Canterbury Henselite Singles. Good luck in the Zone finals in July.
Canterbury Single’s Championship was won by Dave Bullock with Chris Matthews and Darryl Gallagher reaching the semis. Hornby had 14 entered with seven qualifying. An awesome achievement Dave and well-done members.
The Canterbury Veteran Pairs held recently with Julie Dalley and Pat Hartland and Bev Diamond playing with a player from Richmond getting third equal.
Three of our ladies were selected to play in the Canterbury Chartered Club Ladies 10’s, they are Jenny Hamilton, Pat Hartland and Bev Diamond. Chartered Clubs won by 1 point over the Catholics, Metro and Country. Well done girls.
Good luck to any members travelling to Timaru to play in the South Island Tournament over Kings Birthday weekend. Safe travels and remember you are playing for the Inaugural David Philpott Memorial Trophy in the Triples.
