June 2021 Travel Update

Tuesday 1 Jun, 2021

41 Travel members departed the Hornby Club at 10.45am on 23 May to visit the Plains Tinwald Museums – train – Lynnwood – and fire. We also had a railcar ride for approximately 30 minutes.

Although it was very cold everybody seemed to enjoy the day and found it all interesting.

We then moved on to Panther Rock Bar and Café where we all had a very nice lunch and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and hospitality shown by Alice and Bill Baldwin. They really were fabulous hosts and kept us entertained.

Unfortunately, about mid-afternoon one of our members had a frightening medical incident which involved having the ambulance attend and transporting her to Ashburton hospital. I am happy to advise she is now home and well.

The next event for the Travel section is the mid-winter dinner on Saturday 26 June to be held at Rossendale Function Centre. The coach will depart Hornby Club at 6.45pm. This will be a Christmas style menu and music will be supplied by Churbro. There will be canapes served on arrival, followed by dinner at approximately 7.30pm. The live music will play until 10.30pm, with the function to close at 11pm. At this time the coach will then return to Hornby Club. The total cost is $60pp. The attendance list is now on our Club notice board. Please pay when putting your name up.

Please note, there is a notice on the board to attend the show Hi De Hi at Heaton Intermediate School. Supper will be supplied in the Westview function room at the Hornby Club on return from the show.

Our next meeting will be held at 7pm on Monday 21 June upstairs.

Look forward to seeing you all there.

Warm regards
Lyn Wright
