July 2025 – Pool Update

Tuesday 1 Jul, 2025

Well, where do we start, it’s all on for love or money right now!

Interclub is halfway through the season and Hornby is solidly bolstering the middle of the table again apart from Div 1 Silver who are battling for top spot and Div 3 which is bookended with Hornby teams at top and bottom of the ladder.

Prems are sitting fifth with a couple of toughies to come, there are tight tussles for fourth to seventh places.

Div 2 Diamondz are within seven points of the lead but are fourth place, another tight one!

Time to dig it in peeps.

The Canterbury Open Singles held on the weekend just gone had the usual Hornby mob in attendance for the usual range of performances. Notables are John Gower (photo below) winning the Main Flight event, Tom McNaught runner-up in the Trophy event and Linus Myer getting into the last 16 in the Championship.

It was noticeable that the level in this tournament was higher than normal with the number of entries, indicating an increase in standards of player in Canterbury at the present. This is really good to see and makes any good performances more worthwhile.

Also run concurrently, was the Canterbury Ladies Open Singles with Jodie Chapman semi-finalist in the Main Flight, Letitia Jackson runner up in the Trophy, Liz Hullen and Maxine Soal as semi-finalist in the Ladies Championship, all doing particularly well.

In House tournaments coming up are:

• Josie Bodger Singles on 5th July,

• Booth Anderson Open Singles on 20th July

Thanks all, The pool team
