February 2025 – Managers Report

Hi All.

It’s been great to see people out enjoying the beanbags and games in front of Pavilion Café, and the sun when it’s been out. Hope you are all looking forward to the Family Picnic on the 9th and Waitangi Day on the 6th for a fun time!

Things are picking up with raffles and members draws, while Bingo is kicking off on Tuesday and the Quiz on Wednesday. Fantastic to see one of you start the year with a $1100 Chase the Ace win on Thursday, congratulations!

Special General Meeting:
The Board has called a Special General Meeting for Tuesday 25 February at 6.00pm in the Pavilion Cafe to have a vote on the proposed rule updates. Please bring your membership cards to attend.

Proposed updates:
• Rule 19 – Qualifications for Office
• All Sports Committee Rule – Reinstate the previous version of the rules

A copy of the proposed rule updates is on the notice board and available from reception for Members.

Sport:
On the sport front, the Crusaders had their first kick out at Kirwee on the last Friday of the month. Looking forward to a really busy year of Sport on the Big Screen:
• Black Caps – Tour of Pakistan – Live when possible
• Super Rugby – Crusaders pre-season has started
• NRL – Warriors kick off in March
• Super Cars – Bathurst 500
• Golf – NZ Open
• Superbowl – Monday 10th
• Formula 1 – Starts in Melbourne in March with replays on Mondays throughout the season

Music:
Big Gigs for the year are booked in, sorry for the change up in our February act, there were some health issues with the original performers booked, wishing them a speedy recovery. The next Gigs in our Event Centre are:
• Love Me Tender – Saturday 15 February
• Hot Wired – Saturday 22 February
• Shania & Country Legends Tribute – Saturday 1 March

The rest of our music offering are in our calendar and play on Fridays and Sundays, starting with Karaoke on the first Friday.

Food & Beverage:
We have made a number of updates to our Chalmers menu and have weekday specials for you to enjoy this month:
• Monday: Lunch – Small Roast. $12. 11am – 2pm | Dinner – Fishermen’s basket & beer. 4pm to Kitchen Close
• Tuesday: Lunch – Small Roast. $12. 11am – 2pm | Dinner – Roast & Dessert. $20. 4pm – Kitchen Close
• Wednesday: Taco night. $20 & $25 options. 4pm – Kitchen Close
• Thursday: Burgers & Beer. 12pm – Kitchen Close
• Friday: Loaded Fries & Beer. 12pm – Kitchen Close

Sections:
It’s so good to see you all busy and back into your weekly events. Pool starts its Monday “Super League” 8 Ball tournaments in February and interclub in March, I saw indoor bowls has been back at it as well. As always, thank you for your engagement and support of our Club and best of luck with all your tournaments, tours, races and matches this year.

Gaming Room:
As always, please continue to be respectful of our staff completing more frequent and deliberate interactions with yourselves to meet the obligations of the new laws. Please do not be offended, we are doing what we have to and what the previous government thinks is best for you.
