February 2023 Pool Update

Hi everyone,
Happy 2023 everyone. I hope you all had some R & R over this period and are back for what I say will be a big year this year for pool in Canterbury.
This year Christchurch will be hosting five major tournaments, so start practising.
• Ladies South Islands
• Open South Islands
• Ladies Nationals
• National Masters
• Open Nationals
Summer league has started up again, so if you want to have a game or two then head down to Hornby.
• Tuesday (Open to all grades)
• Wednesday (Div 2 / 3)
The pool section is starting to organise teams for each division for interclub, which will be kicking off soon, so if you want to play this year then you need to get your name on the board under your preferred division.
Hornby held the first tournament of the year on 14 and 15 January. We held an open singles, which was limited to 48 players. The weekend was a success, and the tournament ran effortlessly. We got some great feedback and comments, so we will look at making this an annual event each year.
The winner of the championship event was Malcolm Pollock over Tony Gumley. The Championship Trophy event was Graham Carr over Josh Ielua and the Trophy Event was Sherralee Boyce over Greg Inglis.
I want to thanks to Richy Whitty and Mabel Silbery for their help during the weekend.
