February 2021 Euchre Update

Wednesday 3 Feb, 2021

Welcome back to all our regular Euchre Card Section members. And a special welcome to all our new Hornby Club Members who may be interested in joining our fun section this year.

We have had a restful break over Dec/Jan and we are ready to get back into our section activities for 2021. But first, a quick recap of our Euchre Cards Section Xmas breakup dinner function, held at the end of 2020. It was a fun, social night with a lovely Xmas buffet meal and lots of Xmas Raffle Draws.

We also had the presentation of our new trophy ‘Hornby Club Euchre Trophy’ to this year’s winner: Mary Churchill. The trophy can be given for any reason by the past recipient and it is a great way to finish off our section activities for the year.

Now onto February 2021 and it is all go for our Euchre Card Section Members…

Thursday 4 February: Upstairs at the Club we will have our opening night. It starts at 5.30pm with pre drinks and a light dinner. After, we will start with 10 games of Bingo where you can win prizes for lines and houses. It is easy to play. We will then have a few games of euchre for those who wish to play, or anyone that wants to come and just watch over and learn. It is just $10 per person.

Thursday 11 February: Sorry no Euchre that night. The Club has a private function upstairs and the room is not available.

Sunday 14 February: VALENTINES DAY, Fun Day. The Crib Section and The Euchre Section have decided to have a fun joint day at the Club. You can choose your own partner, or we will arrange for you on the day. You will play either Euchre or Crib for the day. Please report at 12pm for a 12.30 pm start time. There will 10 min games of both euchre and Crib. It will be $6 per person which includes afternoon tea. Cash prizes will be paid out for each section.

Saturday 20 February: Rangiora Races Trots Day. This is our annual race day to Rangiora Races. We have a race named after us, the ‘Hornby Club Card Section’, that the Rangiora Trotting Club kindly present on our behalf. There is no cost to us for the Trophy. We have a bus booked but need to have our numbers confirmed urgently as the Joker has emailed all card section members. We go to Rangiora RSA for hour or so, then on to the racetrack. Our card members know this is such a great day, which includes the bus and drinks and meals.

We have lots happening!

Any new members if you wish to join us, come on our first Bingo / Cards night, or any Thursday night when we start…
