December 2024 – Managers Report

What a fantastic Cup Week and November. It is great to see the sun and festive season kicking off around the Club with section parties starting us off. We are looking forward to the Cricket on the big screen and hope the Black Caps do well against England.

We are excited to welcome back Happy Hour every Wednesday and Thursday from 4:30 PM–6:30 PM. It will be 10% off tap beer and house wine. Happy Hour is for members only, and there will be no banking of sales. Between 6:00 PM–6:30 PM, there will be a max of two drinks per person.

Thank you for another great year at the Club. Our staff love looking after you and wish you all a Merry Christmas. Hope you have a fun festive season both in the Club and with your families and friends in the sun.

For those of you not heading away, the Hornby Club has some fantastic entertainment and fun coming up in December.

GIVEAWAYS

• 12 Days of Christmas on Facebook and Instagram from 1–12 December. A daily prize for one lucky member. On the 13th day, there will be a big giveaway held in the Club.
• Xmas Bonanza finishes off the raffles for the year. It will be held on Sunday, 15 December, at 6:15 PM. There are 30 prizes to be won!
• Early Bird Draw Giveaway will be held on Thursday, 19 December, at 6:30 PM. Supermarket vouchers to be won! The biggest prize is valued at $1,500. Join or renew your membership NOW.

MUSIC

• Elvis Concert: 13 December, 7:30 PM in the Events Centre. $30 per ticket.
• NYE Show with DND: 31 December at Hornby Club. $20 on the door.
• Shania Twain Tickets: On sale now for Saturday, 1 March.

SPORT

• The Black Caps will be taking on England from 6–10 December and 14–18 December. It will all be on the big screen. A must-watch series.

CHRISTMAS HOURS

• We are closed on Christmas Day.
• Chalmers is closed from 23 December and reopens 18 January.
• Pavilion, Legends, and the Office will have a change of hours. See the back of this newsletter for details.
• The last week for raffles, Crack the Cube, Chase the Ace, and members’ draws is the week ending 15 December. All will return on the week of 13 January 2025.
• There will be NO Quiz in January; it will return the first week of February.
• Tuesday, 3 December, is the last Bingo session for the year. See you on 4 February when we restart.
• From 1 December 2024, the van will be pick-up only until 5:00 PM.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

• Our Christmas Buffet Lunch and Dinner booking is still open for Sundays in December until the 22nd.
• There is a new roast of the day every Friday over December: maple-glazed roast ham with minted new potato, steamed seasonal vegetables, and apple sauce. Add $4 to our roast price for a brandy snap combo. We also have a cream-filled brandy snap special for $6 individually.
• Our burger meal deal on Thursdays and pizza meal deal on Wednesdays continue.
• Our Pavilion Café has fantastic kid’s lunch boxes—perfect for the school holidays.

GAMING

In the gaming room, please continue to be respectful of our staff completing more frequent and deliberate interactions with yourselves to meet the obligations of the new laws. Please do not be offended; we are doing what we have to and what the previous government thinks is best for you. Remember to bet responsibly.
