December 2024 – Indoor Bowls Update

Welcome members to my final report this year. It has been a very successful season – congratulations to all on your varied results over the season.
Final results are:
- Dave Bullock won the Canterbury Chartered Club Champion of Champions – great result, Dave.
- The Canterbury Fours Championship played at the end of September was won by Chris Matthews, Mike Johnson, Rob Osborne, and Donna Matthews.
- Bev Diamond travelled down and played in the Alexandra Blossom Festival Tournament at the beginning of October, again playing with friends from Southland. Unfortunately, this year they were not winners in the main event but won the Plate event in the Fours and the Plate event in the Pairs with Brian Hotton.
Our AGM, prize-giving, and meal were held on Sunday, 3rd November, and were attended by many members.
At the Canterbury Chartered Clubs Prizegiving held at the Richmond Club on 9th November, Justin Thompson and Dave Bullock both received their Gold Star for 5 Chartered Club Titles. Congratulations!
Chris Matthews received his bar for his Gold Star for 10 Titles, and Mike King received his 2nd Bar to his Gold Star for 15 Titles. Awesome achievements all!
Hornby also won the singles, pairs, triples, and fours this season at the Chartered Club Championships. Hornby Indoor Bowls – you can hold your head up high. Fantastic results!
The Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association held their prize-giving on 10th November.
- Jenny Hamilton received her 1st Canterbury Title. Congratulations, Jenny!
- Dave Bullock received his Gold Star for 5 titles.
- Chris Matthews received his third Bar to his Gold Star for 20 titles and Player of the Year. Congratulations, Chris – an awesome achievement and a force to be reckoned with!
- Mike King received his Silver Star for 5 Champion of Champions Titles.
Many of our players also received awards and certificates for achievements this season. Too many to mention, but GO HORNBY!
Looking forward to 2025 with hopefully many more successes.
