December 2022 Travel Update

Friday 2 Dec, 2022

Welcome to the last newsletter for 2022.

On 6 November, 12 of our travel members had an afternoon at the Papanui Bowling Club which was hosted by Papanui Club. Travel sections from each club were invited. It was an enjoyable afternoon with afternoon tea provided and music supplied by Anthony. They had a few fun games also.

Unfortunately, the next morning we received an email stating two members from Papanui had tested positive. I notified those of our team that visited and at the end of the week three of our members had advised they had tested positive. That was disappointing, but totally out of our control.

On 20 November, 51 members visited Orana Park for a two hour tour of the park with the chance to feed the giraffes and watch the lions and have a light meal. We visited all around the park and it was incredible what they have done there. The staff were amazing. This was followed by a beautiful Devonshire tea at Priestley’s café. The scones were absolutely beautiful with jam and so much cream.

Our next outing is a mystery trip on Sunday 8 January. Unfortunately, this is full, with a waitlist.

The travel committee wish all members a very merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe everyone and we look forward to catching up next year.

Our next meeting will be Monday 16 January at 7pm at the Hornby Club.

Warm regards,
Lyn Wright
