December 2021 Cards Update
Friday 3 Dec, 2021
We are now into December. We played our last Thursday Card’s night back on August 12 before Covid 19 struck again… Fast forward 15 weeks and we have had our first night back on Thursday 25 November. It was great to see all our regular card members back to play.
We had 12 tables and 48 players which was an awesome turnout on the night. Most of our members are either on our Card Section email list, or text list, so Cheryl keeps everyone up to date with our activities, so they knew 25 November was our start day. This ensured good numbers playing on our first night back.
On 2 December we will be holding our Hamper Night with lots of Xmas prizes. We are having finger food at 7pm first, then will play cards for those that choose to or others will have an organised task or so. Lucky table draws will be held as well. After cards have finished, we will have sweets and tea and coffee.
Then we have a chance to pay out those lucky winners of the 20 best scores of cards for the night and the 20 prizes of the Xmas Raffle.
We hope to continue with a couple of weeks of normal card nights in December after this night, if we have enough interest, and will get general opinion on Hamper Night to continue.
Members have been still playing last games of our in house *winter tournament* games for the Shield and we are now down to the final – This will be presented on Hamper Night.
Next year, we will have a start-up function for our Card section on Thursday 3 February. We will be in touch with further details.
On behalf of our Card Committee, we wish our members all the best for Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the Club over the next month or two.
