Darts Update – March 2026
Sunday 1 Mar, 2026
It’s been another big month for Hornby darts, with standout results, solid competition finishes, and exciting momentum building into winter.
AEM Invitation Tournament Success
On 15 February, four Hornby players travelled to the Kaiapoi Club to compete in the AEM Invitation Tournament — and they certainly made their presence felt.
• Doug Bull – Men’s Runner-Up
• Sarah Pitama – Ladies Champion
Outstanding results and fantastic representation of Hornby on the big stage. Well done to both players.
The Summer Round has wrapped up, and it was another competitive season across the board. Congratulations to Kaiapoi C for taking out the title, with Templeton A finishing second. A special mention to Hornby C, who secured a well-earned third place out of 22 teams— a solid result.
Winter Round – Building Momentum
Preparations are now underway for the Winter Round, with teams currently being finalised. We have an impressive 48 players registered this season. With numbers like that, it’s shaping up to be a very good year for Hornby.
The Winter competition officially begins on 1 April. In the lead-up, we have three Wednesdays of Cricket events to sharpen the arrows:
• Cricket Pairs
• Cricket Cup
• Ladies Cricket Pairs
These nights are always well supported and a great way to build combinations ahead of the season proper.
South Island Championships – Oamaru
The South Island Championships begin 3–7 March in Oamaru. We wish all our Hornby representatives the very best as they compete against the best from across the region.
Throw well, travel safe, and do Hornby proud.
Up the Hornby darts!
