Cards Update – February 2026
Tuesday 3 Feb, 2026
Happy New Year to all our members and families. Time just flies and we are now into February.
My last report was back in November, so just to mention our activities to finish off our year…
We had Pairs Night back on 28 Nov, with an awesome turnout of 62 players. The winners on the night were myself and Diane Heath, my regular pairs mate, on 20 pts, and in 2nd place Alan Shears and John Churchill on 17 pts.
Then we had our end of year Xmas Hamper break up on 4th December, upstairs in the Mezzanine Room, with just on 60 members attending.
Met at 6pm for refreshments, and at 7pm presentation of trophies was made. Winter Tournament winners this year were Lesley Bulman and Gina Howden. Congratulations to you both.
The All Round Trophy, this year presented by last year’s holder, Bernie McKenzie, was awarded to Mary Nash due to her contribution as a Card Section Committee Member. Every week prior to cards, she comes early and moves and sets up our tables to play each Thursday night in our room. No mean task. We appreciate this, Mary!
We then had supper served — sandwiches, fish bites, buffalo chips, chicken pieces, pavlova, and cheesecake. Perfect.
At 7.45pm we played 6 games of Euchre, which everyone enjoyed, and all those Hamper Prizes, approx. 25, were paid out for best results of cards and Pick of Table.
The raffle was also drawn, and all people chose from the Christmas Hamper prizes as well — at least 25 prizes.
So that’s where we finished off for Euchre as at 2025.
Our Card Section 500 group had their last Monday for the year with their special break up day as well. We are getting good numbers, with more members coming along.
So now we are into 2026…
Our first Euchre Card Night is Thurs 12th February at 7pm down in the Glassworks Room, through the Restaurant. Normal Progressive night. New members welcome — please come along if you are interested.
Our 500 Cards also resume on Monday 16th February at 1pm. New members welcome as well.
Our Section Notice Board is up to date with all activities within our card section, down under the stairwell as you go into the main Legends Bar. Please check details.
Regards,
Lorraine Cole
