August 2024 – Managers Report

Thursday 1 Aug, 2024

Hi Members,

Thanks for a great July. Trust you all had a bit of fun during the school holidays. Hope this cold blast blows through quickly and some warmer spring weather starts coming through. It was lovely to see such great feedback from Family day, the Totally 80’s night and Bingo, and have the AB’s delivering on the Big Screen.

On the big screen in August:

  • The Olympics have kicked off and our Ladies All Black 7’s gave us our first medal and Gold at that. We will be showing the Olympic Gold Chanel on the Big Screen as it follows the Kiwi athletes automatically.
  • Warriors will be on this Friday, chasing that position in the top 8! Come on down and enjoy the atmosphere.
  • Our All Blacks have games on the 10th and 17th against Argentina at 7.05pm before morning replays on 1 and 8 September against South Africa with breakfast specials on offer for those who come in. Don’t forget to grab your Oyster tickets for the Argentina 10 August game from reception.
  • 37th America’s Cup Louis Vuitton Cup kicks off at the end of August as well. Highlights will be shown in the Club with timing announced closer to the time.

Members Draws

Chase the Ace was won with one lucky member walking away with $2000, and Crack the Cube went TWICE in the month! Happy for those who won and you’ve got to be in to win so come on down and enjoy the chance to win. Don’t forget to grab yourselves a raffle ticket too!

Music in August has changed from what was advertised due to an injury to a band member, so the Fleetwood Mac show is now in September. See the music and events Calendar for our other weekly offerings.

Food and Beverages:

We have a soup and lunch special for Bingo day, Monday and Tuesday lunch specials and have added Nacho’s to the Wednesday shared plate special.

Don’t forget the popular Burger and Beer, or Loaded Fries and drink on Thursday and Friday continue, as well as the $8 coffee and scone before 10am special for

Gaming room:

We had a visit from the DIA last month, so please continue to be respectful of our staff completing more frequent and deliberate interactions with the yourselves to meet the obligations of the new laws. Please do not be offended, we are doing what we have to and what the previous government thinks is best for you.

Friendly reminder to all those that need Mobility Scooters for transport:

  • Due to space restrictions, you will need Duty Manager’s permission to bring mobility scooters into the Club. We have wheelchairs or walkers at reception for those who need them.
  • If you are on Club land footpaths, pedestrians have right of way and the speed limit for scooters is 5km an hour.

Have fun at the All-Sports Cards event on Sunday and enjoy your Club.

See you soon,

Tim Mathews
